Berlin’s Tempelhof Airport might have been shut down a year ago but the legendary airport in the heart of the German capital was brought back to life this past weekend. At Freestyle Berlin some of the world’s best Freestyle skiiers, snowboarders, skateboarders and Motocross riders were able to show off their skills. A 32-metre high ramp made out of steel and 200 tonnes of artifical snow was set up on the apron of the former runway. A crossover competition comprising all the different events also took place in Berlin, similar to the sister event “Freestyle.ch” in Zurich.
Snowboarder Elias Elhard (GER) won that competition on Saturday in cold conditions amid heavy rainfall ahead of Motocross rider Mat Rebeaud (SUI) and skateboarder Sandro Dias (BRA). In the individual competition on Sunday, Sweden's Henrik Harlaut picked up the victory in the Freeskiing category while France's Jean Postec was the top skateboarder and Canada's Sebastian Toutant was the winner among the Snowboarders. In the FMX rider category,Switzerland’s Mat Rebeaud was in a class by himself.
